Dill is an annual herbaceous plant of the umbellifer family, originally from the Near East, but now cultivated worldwide. Already in ancient Egypt, dill was used as a medicinal and spice plant. Both leaves and flower umbels are used, especially for preserving pickles. The best taste, however, has the very fresh dill herb, as we use it for our vinegar.
