description
Delicious homemade Greek gyros with a note of paprika and herbs.
Gyros is the classic way of preparing meat on a spit in Greece. Particularly soft and tender pieces of pork are used, usually pork neck. The typical aroma of gyros is created by seasoning with salt and a mixture of herbs. The spit is then filled with the seasoned pork.
Gyros is most commonly eaten as gyros pita, which can be found on almost every street corner in Greece and is the traditional fast food. The meat is rolled up in a pita flatbread with tomatoes, onions, cucumber and tzatziki. Sometimes coleslaw or chips are also used as a filling.
In Greek restaurants, gyros are served with rice or chips and tzatziki, garnished with large onion rings. Gyros is always an integral part of various Greek platters with lamb chops, souvlaki or bifteki.
Why not try your own original gyros, even without a spit? Cut the pork schnitzel into fine, tender strips and place them in a bowl. Then season them with our gyros seasoning salt and stir everything well from time to time.
Add a little olive oil to the pan and heat over a high heat. Fry the pieces of meat until completely crispy and then serve on a plate with side dishes or fill and wrap your own gyros pita with side dishes as desired.
Our tip: When seasoning the chopped and seasoned pork, add a few drops of olive oil while stirring and leave everything to infuse overnight in the fridge to get an even more intense aroma.
Hand-filled in our elegant aroma bag with viewing window and practical clip closure.
