description
Fresh and fruity tomato powder with a mildly sweet note for refining sauces, meat and vegetable dishes.
Like the eggplant, potato and bell pepper, the tomato belongs to the nightshade family. Botanically, the tomato used as a vegetable is actually a berry and originally comes from South and Latin America and was cultivated by the Mayas. The exact start of the first cultivation is still unknown today. The main cultivation area is China, which produces around 30% of the world's harvested tomatoes.
Tomato powder is perfect for tomato sauces, marinades, soups and stews. Especially for sauces, tomato powder gives you plenty of tomato flavor without making the sauce too runny. Depending on the dosage, you also get a nice creamy consistency.
Or use tomato powder like tomato paste and mix it with salt and pepper, a little oil and herbs such as parsley, oregano or thyme. Perfect as a pizza topping, gratinated baguette or pasta dishes.
Kitchen tip: Try breading a schnitzel with a mixture of breadcrumbs and tomato powder.
